What’s the difference between membership and certification?
Membership gives you access to CMVA resources, discounts, and visibility — it’s how you stay involved with the community. Certification is a professional credential earned by meeting ISO-based exam requirements. You don’t need to be a member to get certified, but it helps with renewal and staying current.
Does membership include training or certification?
No — training and exams are handled separately. CMVA offers certification, not training. However, we list approved third-party course providers on our Course Listings page.
Is membership required to stay certified?
No, as of June 2020, you can renew your certification without being a member — but members get easier renewal, resource access, and community support.
How do I renew or upgrade my membership?
Log in to your Membership Account and click Renew or Upgrade. It’s a one-click process.
Can I add more employees to our corporate membership?
Yes. Base corporate plans cover 5 members. You can add more for an additional fee — reach out to us or choose the add-on during checkout.
Where do I access my certification documents?
Once certified, your documents will appear under your profile. If you’re having trouble, contact info@cmva.com for help.
What happens if I let my membership lapse?
You’ll lose access to member benefits and gated resources, but your certification stays valid until its expiration date. You can rejoin anytime.
Duration & Renewal Policy
Memberships run from January 1 to December 31. If you join in October or later, your membership is valid through the following calendar year. Multi-year discounts are available at checkout. If you maintain continuous membership, certification renewals are free. Renew anytime with one click via your profile.
